The world conference of the General Zionists led by Dr. Emanuel Neumann–as distinct from a similar conference of General Zionists held last week in London under the leadership of Dr. Israel Goldstein and Mrs. Rose Halprin–concluded here today with a resolution not to surrender the name of the World Confederation of General Zionists unless the “dissidents” too agree not to call themselves World Confederation of General Zionists.
Should the “dissidents” agree to assume another name, the conference here empowered its newly elected executive of twelve to change the name of the organizations to “World Union of General Zionists.” The conference elected Dr. Neumann president and decided to establish headquarters in New York with an office in Israel directed by the Israeli members of the executive. It postponed a decision on the question of a merger between the General Zionists of Israel and the Herut Party.
