Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Israel received today separate cables from the Chief Rabbis of Moscow and Leningrad regretting their inability to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations to which he had invited them as representatives of Russian Jewry.
Moscow Chief Rabbi J. A. Levin’s cable, containing Hebrew words in Russian characters, congratulated the people of Israel on their anniversary and said he could not attend because of ill health. Rabbi J. Lubanov of Leningrad communicated his blessings to the Israeli people on this occasion and pointed out that he could not come to Israel because of his advanced age and poor health.
