A total of 5,472 Jews entered Canada as Immigrants in 1957, according to a report released by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration. Among the newcomers were 482 from Israel, of whom 454 were Jews. From Britain came 1, 009 Jews and from the United States came 565.

Another breakdown revealed that among the Jewish immigrant, 419 were professionals, 371 clerical workers, 252 were engaged in commerce, 200 were in service industries, 1, 030 in manufacturing and 37 In agriculture. Another 2,836 were dependents,
