More than $100,000 in Israel bonds was sold here last night at the second of a series of “bon voyage” functions tendered in honor of Avraham Biran, Israel’s Consul General on the West Coast who is returning home after three years of service.

San Francisco Mayor George Christopher, a guest speaker at the function, stressed that “as long as Israel can sustain herself as a free state then the world will be free. Should she not be economically secure, we in America would also be in danger. “Dr. Biran told the 300 diners that the future of Jewry rests in the “link between Israel and America”. He called Israel bonds “an unbreakable link in the chain of Jewish existence.”
