Twenty-seven Torah Scrolis were presented to the Consul General of Israel here, Dr. Michael Simon, at a ceremony at the Adath Israel Congregation of Montreal. The scrolls will be distributed among new settlements springing up in the Jewish State.
The Scrolls were collected jointly by the Religious Welfare Committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress, Mizrachi Organization of Canada and the Synagogue Council of Greater Montreal. They were donated by synagogues, burial societies, YM-YWHAs and individuals.
