The campaign started by Jewish Communists in Poland to discourage emigration of Jews from that country is being intensified in the press and by speakers at Jewish gatherings in various Polish cities, according to reports reaching here today from Warsaw.
The reports point out that the campaign is directed not only against emigration to Israel, but also against emigration to any country abroad, including the United States, Brazil and Australia. Articles are published in the Warsaw Jewish newspaper Folkshtimme reporting unemployment in these countries and difficulties for Jewish immigrants from Poland in adjusting to conditions of life in the new countries. Letters from immigrants to relatives in Poland, regretting leaving Poland, are also reproduced in an effort to show that Jews are better off in Poland than in the countries to which they migrate.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
