Rabbi Isaac Zerbib was installed as Chief Rabbi of Constantine, Algeria’s second city, in a ceremony witnessed by local Jewish leaders and high government officials. Rabbi Zabib, 35, is a graduate of the Paris Rabbinical School.
The post of Chief Rabbi had been vacant for over a year. Its previous incumbent was murdered by Algerian rebels.
