Brig. Chaim Laskov, Chief of Staff of the Israel armed forces, told a meeting of military correspondents that Israel was building a military training center in the Negev which would contribute to the security of the Negev and at the same time help to populate it.

Declaring that the Israel Army is always on the alert and ready for any war that might break out, the Chief of Staff said that while another encounter with the Arabs would be more difficult than was the Sinai campaign, he was certain that the Israel army would win.
