Congress Bill to Check Desecrations of Places of Worship

Rep. Herbert Zelenko, New York Democrat, said today that he will introduce a bill making it a Federal offense to desecrate a place of religious worship. His bill would provide fines up to $10, 000 and imprisonment up to ten years.

Representative Kenneth B. Keating, Republican candidate for United States Senator, announced today that he would make a personal, on-the-spot investigation of synagogue bombings in the South, to “muster all the ammunition I can get” in support of his legislation which would give the FBI jurisdiction to investigate such outrages. Congressman Keating is sponsor of such legislation in the House of Representatives.
