The terrorist who threw a hand grenade into a crowded synagogue in Boghari during Rosh Hashanah services has been arrested by French police, it was announced today. He is a resident of a village 40 miles from Boghari.
The grenade tossing was a shock to both the Jewish community and local Moslems between whom relations have always been excellent. The grenade throwing was severely condemned by the Boghari Moslem Imam, who described the incident as a “criminal attempt to separate two religious communities which have always had friendly relations.”
A Jewish shopkeeper in the heart of Algiers was killed yesterday by a hand grenade tossed by a terrorist, it was reported in Paris today. The Jew died instantly when the bomb went off in his shop.
Special memorial services were held throughout Algeria yesterday for Yaacov Hassan and Raphael Ben Guerra, the Jewish Agency representatives murdered by Algerian rebels. At the same time, a nationwide appeal was launched to raise a fund to support the seven orphans left by the two men.
