The National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States today unanimously adopted a resolution requesting its international affairs department to conduct an inquiry into the reported moves in Soviet Russia to destroy the human rights of the Jews there and, if justified, to make a strong representation to the Kremlin “to prevent any anti-Semitic movement such as our civilization has too often witnessed in the past.”

The Human Rights Section of the NCC invited Rabbi Marc H. Tenenbaum, of New York, executive director of the Synagogue Council of America, to make a statement on the plight of the Jews in Russia. Rabbi Tenenbaum expressed the appreciation of the Jewish community for this expression of concern of Christian conscience and asked the Christian world to maintain an unwavering vigilance of the Soviet campaign against the Jews in order to avoid a recurrence of genocide.
