The British Government intends to initiate an inquiry into the resurgence of anti-Semitism in the Western zone of Berlin, Mr. Ormsby-Gore, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, declared in Commons.
Replying to a query by Laborite Arthur Lewis about the appearance of anti-Semitic posters in the Berlin-Wilmersdorf District, which falls under the British occupation jurisdiction, Mr. Ormsby-Gore said he had received a report of resurgent anti-Semitism in the district, that the West Berlin were investigating and that the Foreign Secretary was making inquiries. He also expressed his distress at the situation.
Mr. Ormsby-Gore also denied today that the British Government had objected to the release of a United Nations film on the work on the UN Emergency force in the Gaza Strip area. A British newspaper report had stated that the film, “Blue Vanguard,” was held back after protests by Britain that it criticized the Suez-Sinai policy.
