Edward B. Lawson, retiring United States Ambassador to Israel, declared last night at a farewell reception that his tour of duty in Israel had been a “wonderful experience for me both as a diplomat and personally. “
“We made many friends here with whom parting is rather sorrowful, “the envoy declared when he embarked on the Theodor Herzl to return to the United States.
A reception was held for him and Mrs. Lawson on board ship and his name was inscribed in the Golden Book of the Jewish National Fund by the Israel-American Friendship League which also sponsored a farewell dinner in his honor.
