The appeal for $18,000,000 by tie New York Federation of Jewish Philanthropies is nearing achievement, it was reported today by Gustave L. Levy, president, at the annual meeting of the Federation He said that $17,725,257 has already been obtained in pledges and contributions and that there is good reason to believe” that the Federation will make its goal.
Mr. Levy indicated that a total of 141,031 contributions had been received thus far, an increase of 15 percent over the number obtained at a comparable period a year ago. The organization expects to exceed 150,000 contributions before the end of the year. Both the number of gifts and the amount of merry raised will represent new records in Federation history for maintenance and support of its member institutions.
