Ferdinand Auberger, a member of the French Senate, and Mayor of Belie Rive-sur-Allier, near Vichy, was expelled from the Socialist Party today on charges that he used anti-Semitic materials in his recent municipal election campaign.
According to the charges, M. Auberger inserted into the municipal journal of his town some violent, anti-Semitic attacks against one of the opposing candidates for the mayoralty, M. Ben Hamou, who is a Jew. M. Auberger will appear in court on formal charges probing into the validity of his election as Mayor of Belle Rive-sur-Allier. However, his senatorship is not in question.
