Removal of Anti-semite from Radio Policy Committee Urged in Munich

A demand that Dr. Walter Becher, a member of the Munich broadcasting station’s policy committee, be removed from that committee, was made here today by the policy committee’s president. Dr. Mueller-Meiningen, who accused Dr. Becher of having written an anti-Semitic article during the Nazi regime, in 1939.

According to the accusation. Dr. Becher had written the article in a Sudeten-German periodical, demanding the elimination of Jews from German cultural life, and referring to Jewish writers as “cultural bugs.”

Dr. Becher is a member of the Bavarian legislature, where he is chairman of the right-wing “All-German Bloc. ” Recently, he helped establish in Bavaria the National Democratic Union, with the aim of “coordinating all right-wing national elements in German politics, ” He introduced a bill in the Bavarian legislature, calling for reorganization of the Munich Broadcasting Station’s policy committee along lines that would exclude the Jewish community from representation.
