A delegation of leaders of Chicago’s 1960 Combined Jewish Appeal left International Airport here today by plane for a study mission in Israel, with stopovers for consultations in Europe. The mission is headed by Howard G. Mesirov, general chairman of the 1960 CJA drive in Chicago; and David Silbert, chairman of the campaign’s trades, industries and professions division.

The mission will meet with overseas welfare officials of the Joint Distribution Committee in Geneva on Wednesday, and in Vienna on Thursday, to secure firsthand reports on the relief and rehabilitation programs conducted on behalf of Jews in Eastern Europe, North Africa and other areas. Then the group will proceed to Israel, where the Chicagoans will meet members of Israel’s Cabinet and visit farms, rural settlements and industrial plants.
