Israel sources indicated today that economic ties between Israel and France will be strengthened considerably as a result of an expanded Franco-Israel trade agreement.

The new agreement, signed here Thursday after two weeks of hard bargaining, was aimed at meeting Israel’s primary goal of increasing exports to France which last year were only a third of what had been anticipated.

The agreement provides better openings for Israel goods in French markets by abolishing completely French quantitative import restrictions on some types of commodities and considerably increasing quotas on others.
