A real estate agent who had advertised land for sale adjacent to an “exclusive Jewish golf club” publicly apologized here today in a statement given to the Canadian Jewish Congress. The advertisement had indicated that membership in the “exclusive” golf club was restricted on racial and religious grounds to Jewish applicants only.

When the advertisement appeared recently, the CJC condemned the wording of the ad as being of the same type used by racially discriminating organizations of an anti-Semitic trend. A Congress investigation has shown that the real estate agent, who is not a Jew, was responsible for the advertisement. The man today authorized the CJC to issue his apology to the Jewish community, declaring that he had not intended to offend anyone.
