The urgency of a quick settlement of the indemnification claims of Austrian Jewish victims of Nazi persecution was stressed in a resolution accepted today by the Council of Jews From Austria in Great Britain.
The Council, at its annual meeting, also demanded that West Germany take parties the indemnification for such victims both from and in Austria and that the Jewish victims receive their full share of all payments by West Germany for Austrian Nazi victims.
Delegates expressed approval of plans to set up an institute in memory of the late Chief Rabbi of Vienna, Dr. H.G. Chajes, to preserve the achievements of Austrian Jewry. Joseph Frankel, the honorary secretary, emphasized in his report the need for unremitting efforts by Jewish groups to obtain indemnification.
