Syrian authorities have captured a “gang” engaged in the “criminal activity” of helping Jews to flee from Syria, according to reports in Arab newspapers received here today.
The reports said that three Syrians, four Turks and an undisclosed number of Jews had been arrested near the Turkish border during an attempt to smuggle Jews into Turkey. The Syrians charged that the escape efforts were being organized and financed by unidentified Jewish organizations operating in Ankara and Istanbul.
