56,173 Tourists Visit Israel in Six Months; Spend $10,000,000

The swelling tourist boom brought 56,173 visitors to Israel in the first six months of this year and produced more than $10,000,000 for the Israel Treasury, according to statistics released today. In the first six months of 1959, the total number of tourists was 41,474.

An American industrial firm has for the first time included Israel as a site for its travel incentive programs, it was disclosed today. The Fedders Corporation, a major air conditioning manufacturer, has made plans to send by jet plane this fall about 1,000 of its retail dealers and their wives to Israel on a 10-day all-expense-paid vacation.
