The problem of maintaining Jewish communal life in once large and now shrunken Jewish communities was the theme of a meeting sponsored by the Jewish community of Turin and the Department of Culture of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities.
Many small Jewish communities, threatened with gradual disappearance as a result of the destructive upheavals of the Hitler era and World War II, sent representatives to the parley. Plans were developed to coordinate activities so that Jewish cultural and religious life may be continued in smaller centers which lack even a resident rabbi.
