The American Jewish Congress today called on the State Department to initiate direct discussion with the member states of the Arab League aimed at halting their boycott of American business firms dealing Israel.
In a telegram to Secretary Christian A. Herter, Dr. Joachim Prinz, president of the AJ Congress, expressed gratification that the Department had protested boycott threats against United States businessmen by the Government of Kuwait. But he charged that the “main thrust of the Arab campaign” is directed by the Central Boycott Office of the League of Arab States in Damascus, Syria.
“Any serious protest must therefore be directly lodged with the states comprising the Arab League rather than with a shcikhdom which is doing the Arab League’s bidding,” Dr. Prinz declared.
