Southern City with 300 Jewish Families Opens All-day Hebrew School

An all-day Hebrew school was opened today in Augusta, Georgia, which has a Jewish population of about 300 families, it was announced here by Samuel C. Feuerstein, president of Torah Umesorah, the national society for Orthodox Hebrew Day Schools. There are 14 pupils in the first grade of the new school.

Torah Umesorah has helped during the past 16 years to establish 258 such schools and 48 Hebrew high schools in 24 states with a total school population of 45,000 children. Mr. Feuerstein said that the Augusta school was one of 13 new Jewish all-day schools scheduled for opening for the current academic year.
