Dr. Bela Schick, of New York, world-noted pediatrician, and discoverer of the test named after him for determining susceptibility to diphtheria, received the first Maimonides Humanitarian Award of the Jewish Federation-Council of Greater Los Angeles, at the organization’s annual fall meeting here last night.
The award was established to give “deserving recognition for outstanding achievement in every field of human endeavor.” Dr. Schick was chosen for the initial award, being cited “as a living testimonial to the purposes and ideals which Maimonides so impressively advanced.”
