Foreign Ministry circles here expressed regret today over the resignation of Ogden R. Reid from his post as United States Ambassador. Ambassador Reid was lauded here for having earned the respect and affection of the Israeli people who particularly appreciated the fact that both he and Mrs. Reid learned to speak Hebrew.

(In Washington, President Eisenhower expressed “great personal regret” over Ambassador Reid’s resignation and said that both he and Mrs. Reid had represented the United States with distinction. “The intense effort and zeal with which you have approached your job have meant much to the strengthening of our friendship with the Israeli people,” the President declared.)
