Vienna State Attorney Opens Probe into Case of Arrested Eichmann Aide

Vienna’s State Attorney opened an investigation here today into the case of Franz Nowak, a former Gestapo officer arrested here last Friday on charges of having been one of the principal accomplices of Adolf Eichmann, SS Colonel now awaiting trial in Israel as the slayer of 6, 000. 000 European Jews under the Hitler regime.

One of the points to be determined, the State Attorney said, will be Nowak’s nationality, A former Austrian, he went to Germany during the Nazi regime, later becoming an aide to Eichmann.
