Eichmann’s claim that he was only a cog in the Nazi machine which exterminated 6, 000, 000 Jews was refuted by the World Jewish Congress today in a 10, 000-word study entitled “Eichmann-Master of the Nazi Murder Machine,”
According to the report, prepared by Dr. Nehemiah Robinson, director of the WJC Institute in Jewish Affairs, Eichmann was the center of the “web” dealing with the extermination of European Jews. The report charges that Eichmann planned and supervised the deportation of Jews from 15 countries and disobeyed his superiors in order to increase the numbers of deportees and continue the slaughter even after Himmler himself had reversed the policy towards Jews.
Dr. Robinson points out that Eichmann’s rank of Lieutenant Colonel was due in part “to the general camouflage that surrounded the final solution of the Jewish problem. It was part of this camouflage not to demonstrate openly the importance of the office and of the person dealing with the implementation of this solution.”
