Austrian officials announced today they have uncovered an Austrian “plant” through which anti-Semitic materials were being shipped for dissemination in this country. The officials, however, refused to reveal the names of the Austrians involved or their German source.
According to the officials, customs men at Salzburg, near the German Bavarian border, became suspicious last week when a large wooden case, marked “China|Handle With Care,” came from Germany, addressed to a Salzburg resident known to be a Nazi and known to have no relationship to the china ware trade.
The customs men opened the case and found it filled with scurrilous, anti-Semitic propaganda, which they promptly confiscated. The consignee admitted he had been handling the anti-Semitic material for a neo-Nazi organization in this country.
