Louis Segal, secretary of Farband-Labor Zionist Order and member of the executive of the Jewish Agency, declared today following his return from meetings of the Zionist Actions Committee, that the progress and achievements of the State of Israel have overshadowed, by far, the various sensational news items in connection with the uncovering of the Itzhak Baer spying for a foreign country, the forthcoming Knesset elections and even the Eichmann trial. He was reporting to the national executive committee of Farband.
Mr. Segal said in his report that the influx of new settlers in Israel is welcomed by the Government the Jewish Agency and Fletadrut. The number of new institutions, factories and housing developments is overwhelming, he stated. "The members of the Actions Committee were especially pleased with the election of Moshe Sharett to the important post of chairman of the World Zionist executive." He reported it was generally felt that Sharett’s leadership of the Zionist movement "would afford opportunities for greater achievements. "
