The O. A. S., the secret French Algerian underground organization, was reported here today to have bombed a number of Jewish-owned shops in Algiers, Constantine and Oran.
The attacks, which took place yesterday, were committed ostensibly because the Jewish shops had been closed at the request of the Algerian rebel organization, the FLN, during an Algerian demonstration strike.
The attacks deamatized the increasingly difficult position of Algerian Jews who were caught between the Moslem demands for solidarity in such actions as strikes, and fear of reprisals from French ultra-nationalists.
