The Jewish Agency executive announced today that its current budget had been increased by 54, 000, 000 Israeli pounds–about $30, 000, 000–to 238, 000, 000 pounds ($133, 280, 000), to cope with an increase in new immigrants.

The additional funds will be used to finance travel, absorption, housing, agricultural settlement and youth work for the newcomers. The Agency said it was hoped that the additional expenditures would be met through increased income from the United Jewish Appeal and from long term loans.
