Warning that Israel’s Arab neighbors were receiving a “constant flow of new and modern arms,” Sihimon Peres, Deputy Defense Minister, declared last night that Israel must strengthen its military forces to serve as a deterrent to the Arab countries.

“The gap in quantity between our neighbors and ourselves must be made up by continuing emphasis on the quality of our manpower and equipments,” he said. He spoke before 400 Jewish leaders from the United States, Canada and Latin America attending an economic planning conference sponsored by the Israel Bond Organization.
