Two-thirds of the work of the Jewish Colonization Association, originally created to settle Jewish immigrants in South America, is now focused on Israel. Sir Henry Davigdor-Goldsmid, president of the organization, declared here today.
He spoke at the first meeting of the JCA Council to be held in Israel, a meeting arranged to commemorate the settlement organization’s 70th anniversary. Sir Henry did not mention how much capital–derived from the original endowment by Baron Hirsch–the JCA has, but he remarked that during the past 20 years, seven settlements had been developed in Israel with JCA aid.
