Jewish Physician Leaves $500,000 to Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York

Dr. Henry Reiss, a Jewish physician who died in 1960 at the age of 82, bequeathed $500,000 to Mt. Sinai Hospital to aid medical students who lack funds to complete specialized studies, it was revealed here today after probate of Dr. Reiss’ will.

During many years of medical practice in The Bronx, it was revealed, Dr. Reiss-had distributed more than $500,000, contributing to many philanthropies. Known as “the poor man’s doctor,” because he had treated hundreds of patients gratis, Dr. Reiss had obtained considerable wealth through investments.
