The Rabbinical Council of New Jersey, an organization of Orthodox rabbis, announced its opposition to any proposals for opening Jewish Community Centers and YM-Y WHAs in New Jersey on the Sabbath.

Dr. Leon Katz of Passaic, president of the organization, said that the rabbinical stand was that centers and Y’s adhere to the policy which had been in force since the institutions were being closed for all activities on Friday evening and on Saturday until sundown.
