Levi Eshkol, Israel’s Finance Minister, appealed from here today to the striking, salaried engineers in Israel to return to work “and join the rest of the country to help stabilize the economy.”

At the sametime, Mr; Eshkol supported the Government’s decision, adopted at a Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem yesterday, to stand firm in its disapproval of the walk-out; Declaring that a wage increase should be given the engineers, Mr; Eshkol, however, said that the demands of the strikers are far too high for the stability of Israel’s economy.
