The American Express Company, which had closed its branch in Israel apparently under Arab boycott pressure, may reopen it soon. This was indicated today by P.W. Erickson, vice-president of the company and head of the American Travel Agents Association, who is currently touring Israel in a survey of tour possibilities.

The company has never admitted the Arab boycott pressures, asserting that it closed its Israel office because of unsatisfactory business. This contention apparently was refuted by Mr. Erickson on his current visit when he agreed that Israel was becoming an important tourist country, with both ancient and new tourist attractions.
