The Pittsburgh Jewish Publication and Education Foundation announced this week that the first issue of the Jewish Chronicle would be published on March 8. The Foundation is an independent non-profit corporation affiliated with the United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh, which purchased the two Pittsburgh privately published weeklies, the American Jewish Outlook and the Criterion. The Chronicle is successor to the two weeklies.

Albert W. Bloom of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette has been named editor. Albert W. Golomb, publisher of the Outlook, has been named general manager. The Foundation said the new weekly would be a newspaper which would “not purport to speak for the Jewish community” but that the policy would be “to make of the newspaper a mirror of the community in its local, national and international aspects.” Joseph W. Feldman is president of the Foundation.
