Israel’s new economic policy sparked by the recent devaluation of the Israel pound from 1.8 to 3 to the dollar, was lauded here today by the Council of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, whose president, Ambassador Lakarta, of Uruguay, expressed the gratification of the Council for Israel’s action. The new policy was also welcomed by the United States representative on the Council.
