The Greater Washington Association of Unitarian Universalist Ministers today added its voice to the call for a ban on all religious observances in the public schools.

In a statement endorsing the view set forth in January by the Washington Jewish Community Council, the Unitarian group said religious holiday observances and public school prayer reading “violates the fundamental American principle of the separation of church and state.” Such observances, added the statement, “implicitly discriminate against children who have other religions or no religion.”
