Morris Asofsky, Hias Leader, Dies in Israel; to Be Interred Here

Morris Asofsky, for many years a director of the United Hias Service and one of its predecessor agencies, the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society, died of a heart attack at Tel Aviv this weekend, while on a visit to Israel. He was 80.

Born in Russia, Mr. Asofsky came to the United States at the age of 17. He was formerly president of Congregation Anshe Slutsk, a director of Congregation Chovevei Torah in Brooklyn, and was active in the work of the United Jewish Appeal and the Israel Bond Organization. The remains of the deceased are being brought here for burial.
