Israel closed its 1961-62 citrus season today with the dispatch of 4,000 cases of fruit to Switzerland, bringing total exports for the year to 8,733,000 cases. Officials said this was an increase of eight percent compared with the previous season. Income also was expected to be higher by $3,000,000.
The largest purchaser of Israeli citrus continued to be Britain, but its share of the total dropped in comparison to larger quantities shipped to West Germany, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The season included a trial shipment to the United States for their first time.
