Dr. Julius Mark, president of the Synagogue Council of America, said today upon his return from Israel that he negotiated there to send the Dead Sea Scrolls to New York for exhibition at the 1964 World’s Fair. He suggested that the Scrolls be housed in the planned Pavilion of the Synagogue Council. The negotiations with leader in the Government, he reported were “most encouraging,” although he did not receive any definite commitment. The Dead Sea Scrolls are currently housed in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
