Herman Wouk, the American Jewish author, announced here today that he has established a special scholarship fund to enable gifted Americans to spend a year studying in higher institutions of learning in Israel.
The scholarships, he said, are to go into effect with the academic year of 1963-64. The author said that $20,000 a year will be given to the fund from his royalties on his book “This is My God.” Equal sums, he stated, will be contributed each year by the American Committee for Bar-Ilan University, an Orthodox institution at Ramat Gan, suburb of Tel Aviv; and by the American Friends of the Hebrew University at Jerusalem.
