Only 50 Jews are among the 12,000 inmates of Michigan State Prison, the world’s largest penal prison, it was disclosed here today by Rabbi Morris Shapiro, chaplain of the penal institution, in an interview published in the Sentinel, Chicago Jewish weekly. Rabbi Shapiro said that because of the small number of Jewish inmates, he had ample time to devote efforts to problems of rehabilitation for inmates of other faiths.
