Ben-gurion Predicts Arab-israel Cooperation ‘sooner or Later’

Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion declared today on a Helsinki television interview that while the aim of President Nasser of Egypt was “to destroy Israel, ” he remained convinced that “sooner or later” there would be full cooperation between the Arabs and Israel.

He reiterated Israel’s standing proposal for complete disarmament with mutual inspection in the Middle East. The Prime Minister also touched on the postwar reaction of the Germans to the Nazi genocide of Jews. He said that “while West Germany recognized the responsibility of the German people for Nazi atrocities, Communist East Germany did not.

Finland is the third Scandinavian country the Prime Minister has visited during his current tour. The Prime Minister invited Premier Ahti Karjalainen of Finland to visit Israel. The invitation was extended at an official dinner tendered by Mr. Ben-Gurion in honor of the Finnish leader.

The Ben-Gurion entourage paid a visit to Helsinki’s Hebrew school where 100 children greeted the Prime Minister. Later he made a brief visit to Helsinki’s Technium and Atomic Research Center. The Prime Minister and his party were scheduled to go to Denmark tonight.
