A report in the Israeli press that President Kennedy intends to invite President Nasser of Egypt and Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion of Israel, separately, in official visits to the United States was denied here today by the State Department.
State Department spokesman Lincoln White said he had checked on the report and had found that there was nothing in it. Other Washington sources similarly indicated that there was no basis for this report. They pointed out that if Nasser were to come to the session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, he would probably be seen by President Kennedy if he requested such an audience. But all indications point to the fact that no official invitation would be extended to him by the White House.
