Brazil’s President Joao Goulart and the Governor of the State of Guanabara, Carles Lacerda, today sent greetings to the Jewish communities of the country and state in connection with the celebration of Rosh Hashanah.
“I greet the productive Jewish community of Brazil,” stated the President’s message, “in honor of the new Jewish Year, and express, on behalf of the Government, as well as personally, my warmest wishes.”
